The Role:

The Credit Risk Manager is responsible for delivering the company’s risk objectives including application scorecards, affordability assessments, fraud prevention, analytics, modelling, forecasting, retailer onboarding, commercial pricing and Management information work streams.


What you'll be doing:

  • Work with the Global Head of Credit Risk to design and build a credit engine, methodology and process for the Australian Consumer POS and SME loan business.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and address requirements for new models and/or revisions to existing ones to optimise credit decisions across the entire credit life cycle.
  • Understand our credit algorithms, policy rules and the systems we use (ADP, Hello Soda etc) to inform you in your role.
  • Work with the UK Credit Risk team to create and manage scorecard rules to meet regulatory requirements and deliver expected loss ratios and acceptance rates for commerciality.
  • Execute continuous performance monitoring tasks of existing models and find solutions to models that may show signs of being suboptimal.
  • Perform ongoing credit monitoring, review and assessment of our loan book; monitor, identify, evaluate and report emerging risks of the customers or facilities including the economic outlook and impact on existing and new commercial relationships; make sound credit recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Contribute to the development of etika’s Fraud policy and fraud controls and ensure
  • Operations apply the controls effectively and consistently.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the marketplace for Consumer POS finance and SME lending, new innovations and products and competitor insight.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience working in a similar role, ideally in a SME Lending business or Financial Services business.
  • Strong understanding of consumer credit life cycle and credit decision engines/processes
  • Thorough understanding of Australian Comprehensive Credit Reporting (CCR) scheme and applicable data reporting standards
  • Ability to demonstrate a solid knowledge of credit bureaus in the APAC region including all relevant products available.
  • Knowledge of modelling techniques, KPIs and finance for risk.
  • Confident using SQL, Python, Tableau and/or Power BI
  • A knowledge of tech infrastructure and customer journey workflow is a bonus
